Rear inserts for use with all Merifix fixtures.

Manufactured from black acrylic, inserts fit to the rear of the fixture and are intended to accommodate whatever mounting holes and cutouts are needed for the connectors that will be used to connect external equipment to the fixture.

Plain

Plain inserts are available for spares or replacements. All fixture kits include one plain insert. The inside surface is engraved with helpful markings.

For Sub-miniature D Connectors

Rear inserts are available with cutouts for sub-miniature D connectors, with a single cutout for a 9-pin, 15-pin or 25-pin connector positioned in the centre of the panel. The cutout is suitable for plugs or receptacles, mounted on either the inside or outside of the panel. The cutout also suits typical board-mounted connectors, and is positioned to align correctly with a board-mounted connector on a 1/16" (1.6mm) board mounted under the fixture probe plate on 1/4" (6mm) standoffs.

The popular VGA connector uses the E size backshell with 15 pins on a smaller pitch. The DE-9 insert will accommodate this DE-15 connector too.

For Rectangular Connectors

Rear inserts are available with cutouts for 0.1" pitch, double-row, shrouded rectangular connectors of the sort that mate with standard ribbon cables. The table shows the sizes available and typical suitable connectors. The connectors shown in the table all require screws to fix the connector to the panel. Suitable screws are panhead thread-cutting #4-24 x 5/16", 3M part number 3341-5.

For Arduino Uno

Rear inserts are available with cutouts to suit the Arduino Uno board. The insert has two rectangular cutouts - one for the barrel power connector and one for the USB connector. The cutouts are positioned to suit an Arduino Uno board mounted under the fixture probe plate on 1/4" (6mm) standoffs.

Note: You must supply an Arduido Uno board and suitable mounting hardware - Arduino board and hardware are not included.

Plain Delrin

Plain inserts are also available manufactured from white Delrin. This engineering plastic is easier to machine than acrylic. It is soft enough to cut easily without chipping but hard enough to hold a clean edge. It is ideal if you need to machine complex cutouts for irregularly shaped connectors.

Blue Clover Devices PLT

In co-operation with Blue Clover Devices, rear inserts are available with cutouts to suit connectors for cables to their Production Line Tool. The insert has one cutout for a 78-pin high-density sub-miniature D connector for test signals, and one cutout for a 4-pin Molex Micro-Fit connector for power.

The PLT insert is manufactured from black Delrin in 3/32" thickness to suit the Molex panel-mounted Micro-Fit connector.
